North Region
ADFA is thrilled to announce the 2025 North Region Adult One Act Play Festival: Acting Out! The Festival will take place on March 15, 2025, at King Street Theatre.
This year, we are accepting 3 to 4 submissions, depending on the running times of each production. A minimum of two unique productions are required for the festival to proceed. Festival acceptance is first-come, first-served. If we receive more submissions than space allows, additional entries will be placed on a waiting list in the order they are received.
Registration Requirements:
Deadline:
Submit a completed registration form (found here) no later than Friday, January 31, 2025, with a $25 non-refundable registration fee.Play Requirements:
Entries must be one-act plays (no adaptations or excerpts).
Running time: 10-60 minutes.
Setup: 10 minutes; Strike: 5 minutes.
Participants:
Casts should predominantly consist of adults from the North Region.
Established works require performing groups to handle royalty payments.
Full members of professional arts unions (e.g., CAEA) are not eligible to participate.
Technical Needs:
One venue technician will operate lights and sound.
Submission Materials:
Final script, cast, and production team details should be submitted no later than February 14, 2025.
Performance Scheduling:
We will strive to accommodate requests but advise all performers to be available for the day of the festival (March 15, 2025).

The Outstanding Production winner, selected by a professional adjudicator, will represent the North Region at the Provincial One-Act Festival in Medicine Hat, May 2025.

Acting Out! Festival is organized by Theatre; Just Because. The 2025 Festival is presented in partnership with Swamp Rat Experience.
The North Region covers the areas within Wood Buffalo, including Fort McMurray, Fort Chipewyan, Anzac, and Conklin. The regional festival is called Acting Out and usually takes place at the Keyano Theatre & Arts Centre in Fort McMurray.
